On August 27, 2012 All-Star Tight End Aaron Hernandez got signed to a five-year contract extension for 40 million with a 12.5 million dollar contract extension. The largest ever given to an NFL Tight End. In less than a year he would be convicted of  first-degree murder of Odin Lloyd by a grand jury.

On July 16, 2012, Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado are killed by gunshots fired into their vehicle in Boston’s South End after leaving Cure Nightclub. Hernandez was later indicted for these murders, but acquitted at trial in April 2017. Drug Dealer and friend of Hernandez, Alexander Bradley, was also shot in the eye by Hernandez surviving, but won a civil suit after Hernandez attempted to intimidate him.

On June 17,2013 Lloyd was with Hernandez at a Massachusetts night club, before he was found dead a mile from Hernandez’s house. Shortly before his death he texted his sister several messages: “You saw who I’m with” and “NFL”. Hernandez and two others, Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace are arrested within the following week. While Hernandez plead not guilty, the other men both took plea deals and plead guilty being charged as accessories to murder.

On April 19,2017 Hernandez was found dead, suicide by hanging. He was found by correctional officers after he had barricaded his cell door. He had written “John 3:16” on his head with blood, and written 2 suicide notes. One to his fiancee Shayanna Jenkins, whom he had a daughter with. The other to Kyle Kennedy, a 22 year old inmate in  Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center for Armed Robbery.

Aaron Hernandez’s relationship with Kennedy was know through-out the Prison to be sexual in nature. Kennedy was put on suicide watch after Hernandez’s death because of their known relationship. There were rumors before his conviction of the murder of Odin Lloyd that Hernandez was bisexual. This certainly puts a spin on the story of this tragic tale.
