Then Feed Just One is a not-for-profit corporation with a mobile food packaging program that packages life saving nutritious meals for starving children and their families in Honduras. The name is taken from a quote of Mother Teresa, who once said, “If you cannot feed a hundred people, then feed just one.” The goal for TFJO is to help alleviate hunger and malnutrition in the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. In cooperation with various organizations in Honduras this food is distributed to the most needy in orphanages, children’s homes, and throughout the general population. They accomplish this task each time a school, church, club, or community desires to have a food packing event. On April 5th, we will be having TFJO here at Heelan High School when students in grades 5-12 will try to make as many meals as they can. Our goal this year is to make 111,019 meals. In the last 7 years we have made 888,981 meals, and if we meet our goal we will make it to 1,000,000. Each student brings in $2o to pay for supplies for the meals. The students go to the gym to pack meals during their Religion period. The food we package is used as a base from which the hungry and malnourished can help escape the dire consequences of their daily lives.
